Jewish students engaged in writing are given the Stephanie G. Hoffman Scholarship each year through the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund. Jewish high school seniors, undergraduates, or graduate students must be accepted into or enrolled in a program at an accredited institution or university to be eligible to apply. Candidates must also be permanent residents of the broader San Francisco Bay Area and major in library science, literature, or a related subject.
Applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria and submit an application, including essays and letters of recommendation. The selection process is competitive and based on the applicant’s academic achievement, leadership potential, and dedication to the financial aid profession.
The applicant must be a Jewish undergraduate or graduate student who has been accepted to or is currently enrolled in a program at an accredited college or university and who plans to work with underserved children to inspire them to pursue higher education through reading while majoring in library science, English literature, or a related field. Parents of the applicant must live in the greater San Francisco Bay Area on a long-term basis.
