The Dakota Corps Scholarship is a program that provides financial assistance to eligible students who plan to attend college or technical school in South Dakota and agree to work in a critical need occupation in the state for a certain number of years after graduation. The program is designed to address workforce shortages in key fields and to encourage talented individuals to remain in South Dakota after completing their education.
The scholarship covers tuition, fees, and books for up to five years of undergraduate study or until the completion of a program of study leading to a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first. Some of the critical need occupations eligible for the program include nursing, teaching, engineering, computer science, and healthcare. The program is funded through the South Dakota Department of Education and is open to South Dakota residents who meet the eligibility requirements.
