The Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Science Competition is a science-based competition for K-12 students in the United States and Canada. The competition challenges students to envision and research a technology that could exist in 20 years. The competition is sponsored by Toshiba and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and was first launched in 1992. Since then, the competition has awarded over $14 million in prizes and scholarships to thousands of students.
Entries are judged on the originality of the idea, the scientific accuracy of the project, and the potential impact of the envisioned technology. The top teams in each grade category (K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12) receive savings bonds, while the first-place teams in each category receive a trip to Washington D.C. and a $10,000 savings bond for each student.
The competition is a great way for students to explore science and technology, develop research and writing skills, and engage in creative thinking.
