The University of Houston Tier One Scholarship is a highly competitive and prestigious award that is designed to attract and support the most talented and promising students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to serving their communities. This scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen who have earned a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, a minimum SAT score of 1450 (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math), or a minimum ACT composite score of 33.
The Tier One Scholarship covers full tuition and fees, a stipend for books and supplies, and a housing allowance for up to four years of undergraduate study. It also includes personalized academic and career mentoring, leadership development opportunities, and other benefits to support the student’s academic and personal growth.
The Tier One Scholarship is highly competitive, and only a small number of students are awarded this prestigious scholarship each year. However, even students who are not selected for the Tier One Scholarship may still be considered for other merit-based scholarships offered by the University of Houston or for need-based financial aid.
