Family and friends created the Carolyn Balsa Hancock Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Carolyn Hancock, a passionate counsellor and educator who was always willing to help the kids confronting the most challenging obstacles. Mrs. Hancock, a native of San Jose, California, worked for the East Side Union High School District where she created initiatives to assist students with disabilities in finding and keeping employment.
The East Side Union High School District seniors in Special Education are eligible for the award, which may be used for academic or vocational training. The prize is awarded to the applicant who most closely exemplifies Mrs. Hancock’s remarkable zest for life, work ethic, and fortitude in the face of insurmountable challenges. Candidates must be enrolled in the East Side Union High School Special Education Programme.
