The ABF Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) programme, formerly known as the Montgomery Summer Research Diversity Fellowship Programme, enables undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds who are thinking about pursuing careers in law or social science to gain practical knowledge for eight weeks over the summer.
During the summer session of the current academic year, the American Bar Foundation (ABF) Undergraduate Research Fellows help ABF faculty members in their research. Students that exhibit a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and initiative by approaching mentors with inquiries and genuine interest in their study leave an especially positive impression on us. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds, such as but not limited to first-generation, low-income, and students of colour, will be given preference. Only students who are currently enrolled in American schools and institutions will have their applications examined.
