About This Scholarship

Are you a member of a racial or ethnic minority and thinking about attending a post-secondary institution full-time? If so, consider applying for the Dominion Energy Educational Equality Scholarship. The only piece of writing necessary to apply for this scholarship is a brief personal statement of your objectives and aspirations. This scholarship gives away between $5,000 and $10,000 to sixty deserving individuals annually. Remember that the scholarship is only available to students who are residents of Connecticut, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North or Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. You may apply online at Dominion’s website. This scholarship is funded through the support of Dominion Energy, a division of Dominion Resources that provides wholesale electric service to 13 million customers in four Mid-Atlantic states. Education specialists carefully screen all applicants to determine if they meet the criteria outlined in this scholarship’s rules and regulations.

Eligibility Criteria For Dominion Energy Educational Equity Scholarship Program

  • Residency: Applicants must be legal residents of one of the states served by Dominion Energy, which includes Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Students who attend college in one of these states but are not legal residents are not eligible.
  • Academic standing: Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll as full-time undergraduate students in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in a STEM field or energy-related field. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Financial need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The scholarship is intended to help students who would otherwise be unable to pursue a degree in an energy or STEM field due to financial constraints.
  • Underrepresented communities: Applicants must identify as a member of an underrepresented community, including but not limited to African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, and female students.
  • Leadership and involvement: Applicants should demonstrate leadership skills and a commitment to their communities through extracurricular activities, volunteer work, or other experiences.
  • Personal statement: Applicants must submit a personal statement that explains their career goals, how their degree in a STEM or energy-related field will help them achieve those goals, and how the scholarship will assist them in pursuing their education.
  • Letters of recommendation: Applicants must provide at least two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to their academic achievements, leadership potential, and community involvement.
