If students have a talent for performing arts or visual arts and you are a high school senior then you will be nominated for Presidential Scholarship with the YoungArts Program.
The eligible candidates for the Presidential Scholarship will be further evaluated against the 10 standards of discipline during National YoungArts Week. The list of 10 disciplines includes Design, Jazz, Cinematic Arts, Dance, Photography, Visual Arts, Music, Theater, Writing, and Voice.
In 2015, the presidential scholarship program was expanded, and technical education also includes in the criteria of the scholarship. If any high school student planning to make a career in the technical technical education field then he became a scholar if he is nominated by the CSSO (Chief State School Officer) based on their achievement in CTE.

The Application procedure for the Presidential Scholarship

The presidential scholarship program is the only program that is available on an invitation basis. Students are invited by the providers for providing residential scholarships. If you are eligible as per the requirements for the scholarship but do not get any invitation then you will not be considered for the scholarship. Students are invited based on three pathways. To get a scholarship, students have to accomplish the requirement of these paths.

Art component: You should be nominated by the YoungArts Program which is either a review committee or a partner organization.
General component: The basic and most important component to getting a presidential scholarship is to earn the top percentile nationally in SAT and ACT.
CTE (Career and Technical Education): Your application should be nominated by your Chief States School Officer as through this your chances of getting selected may increase.

After completion of the procedure of nomination and selection, the invitations are mailed to the selected students along with their unique ID numbers. With the help of this ID, students can access the online portal for the submission of other documents. The documents include self-assessment papers, essays, academic reports, official transcripts, technical reports, etc.

Yes, you can say that it is hard to get a presidential scholarship because the selection process is not easy and everyone is not capable to meet the requirements. As per the data, each year there are around 3.7 million students enroll themselves for graduation. Among these students, only 161 United States students will be selected by the committee for a presidential scholarship. The total number of presidential scholarships awarded in the last 58 years is 8,000 and it is awarded only to the United States students as it is a federal program of the U.S.
