  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and they must demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Applicants must be of Asian or Pacific Islander descent.
  • Applicants must submit an essay of 500 words or less that addresses the following topic: “Describe how your cultural background has influenced your personal and academic achievements, and how this scholarship will help you achieve your future goals.”
  • Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to their academic achievements, character, and potential for success in their chosen field of study.

The Cathay Bank Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships of up to $1,000 to selected applicants. The scholarship can be renewed for up to three additional years if the recipient continues to meet the eligibility criteria and maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0.
