The American Veterinary Medical Association, which promotes the advancement of veterinary medicine to enhance the health of animals and humans through charitable means, funds the SAVMA Teaching Excellence Award. This prestigious award is presented annually to an exceptional veterinary educator who a student nominates. The nominating student receives a scholarship award of $300. A panel of veterinarians considers nominations for the award. Nominate a veterinary educator. Each year the SAVMA recognizes excellence in veterinary teaching by awarding the SAVMA Teaching Excellence Award to an outstanding educator. This honor is presented to a practicing veterinarian who teaches others about animal health and is based on how that individual has positively influenced student learning. Qualifications for this award include being a member of the SAVMA and having at least 10 years of professional experience. A veterinary student will have also nominated the recipient because of his or her exceptional teaching ability in both the classroom and clinic.
