The Lemelson-MIT Student Prize is an annual award that recognizes and rewards the inventive achievements of college students in the United States. The prize is awarded by the Lemelson-MIT Program, which was established in 1994 by the Lemelson Foundation to inspire and encourage young inventors.
The prize is open to undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated a commitment to innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. Applicants must have a working prototype of their invention and must be able to demonstrate its potential for real-world impact.
Each category has a winner who receives a cash prize of $15,000, as well as two finalists who receive a cash prize of $2,500 each. In addition, the winners and finalists are invited to participate in various events and activities organized by the Lemelson-MIT Program to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Lemelson-MIT Student Prize provides financial support and recognition to young inventors who are developing solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. By supporting these inventors, the program is helping to promote innovation and entrepreneurship and foster a culture of creativity and problem-solving.
