About This Scholarship

In 1993, MFST launched its scholarship programme by giving a high school senior a $2,000 stipend ($500 per year for four years). Through donations, the number and value of the annual prizes have grown over the years, with the highest scholarship being worth $12,000 and others worth $2,000 to $10,000. Parents, guardians, grandparents, or great-grandparents who fall under one of the categories below: Officers (O-1 through O-10), Warrant Officers (WO-1 through WO-5) and Non-commissioned Officers (E-5 through E-9) of the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration who are retired, active-duty, National Guard, and Reserve members. Purple Heart awardees are exempt from this rank requirement.

  • Strong academic record: Many scholarships for military families require a minimum GPA or academic achievement to ensure applicants have excelled in their studies.
  • Leadership and Extracurricular Involvement: Demonstrated leadership skills and involvement in extracurricular activities: Scholarships often value applicants who have shown leadership or community involvement, both within and outside the military community.
  • Personal Statement or Essay: Many scholarship applications require an essay or personal statement where applicants can share their experiences as part of a military family, discuss the challenges they have faced, and express their educational and career goals.
