The institution will receive this scholarship’s allotment, which will then be divided into two payments for the student each semester. The Board of Regents meeting that will take place in the upcoming spring will approve the scholarship recipient.

Candidates for the Ardell Bjugstad Scholarship must be high school seniors who intend to major in agriculture, natural resources, or a related field, have a record of academic achievement, reside in South Dakota or North Dakota, and be enrolled members of an Indian tribe whose reservation is recognised by the federal government.

Eligibility Criteria For Ardell Bjugstad Scholarship

Here are some common requirements that are often considered:

This can include tribal enrollment documents, certificates of Indian blood, or other forms of documentation that establish tribal affiliation or Native American ancestry.
  • Tribal affiliation: Some scholarships may be specific to members of a particular tribe or group of tribes. Therefore, you may need to be an enrolled member or have a recognized affiliation with a specific Native American tribe to be eligible for the scholarship.
  • Academic achievement: Many scholarships have minimum academic requirements, such as a certain GPA (Grade Point Average) or standardized test scores (e.g., SAT or ACT). Meeting these academic criteria may be necessary to be eligible for the scholarship.
  • Field of study: Some scholarships may be specific to certain fields of study, such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), cultural preservation, or tribal leadership. Ensure you check if the scholarship you’re interested in aligns with your chosen field of study.
  • Application requirements: Scholarships usually have an application process, which may include submitting an application form, essays, letters of recommendation, or other supporting documents. Pay attention to these requirements and ensure you fulfill them within the given deadline.
