About This Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria For AAUW’s International Fellowships

The AAUW International Fellowships are a program that provides financial assistance to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents and are pursuing graduate studies, doctoral studies, or postdoctoral research in the United States. Here are the eligibility criteria for the program:

  • Mandatory to be a woman who is not a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree by September 30, preceding the November 15 application deadline.
  • Must be accepted into a full-time graduate or postgraduate program at an accredited U.S. institution for the full academic year.
  • Must be pursuing a degree in a field of study that is recognized by the international community as being within the social sciences, humanities, or STEM fields.
  • Must have a well-defined research or study plan.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to women and girls’ education and empowerment in her home country or region.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in English.
  • Must be able to demonstrate financial need.
  • Must be available for an interview with the AAUW selection panel if selected as a finalist.
