Eligibility Criteria For ABA Diversity Scholarships

The American Bar Association (ABA) offers several Diversity Scholarships for law students who are members of diverse populations and traditionally underrepresented groups in the legal profession. The eligibility criteria for these scholarships can vary depending on the specific scholarship program, but some general eligibility criteria that are often common among them include:

  • Being a member of a traditionally underrepresented group in the legal profession, such as racial or ethnic minorities, LGBTQ individuals, individuals with disabilities, or individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Being enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school or a law school with a provisional accreditation from the ABA
  • Demonstrating a strong academic record, with a minimum GPA requirement that varies depending on the specific scholarship program
  • Showing a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession through leadership, community service, or other activities
  • Demonstrating financial need (for some scholarship programs)

Interested law students can find more information on the specific eligibility criteria and application requirements for each of the ABA Diversity Scholarships on the ABA’s website.
