About This Scholarship

The AIM Center for Independent Living Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides support and resources for individuals with disabilities in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. Its mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to live independently and achieve their full potential.

The AIM Center offers a variety of services and programs to help individuals with disabilities achieve their goals. These services include peer support, independent living skills training, advocacy and outreach, employment services, and housing assistance. The AIM Center also provides assistive technology and adaptive equipment to help individuals with disabilities access and use technology in their daily lives.

One of the unique programs offered by the AIM Center is the Peer Support program. This program provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to connect with others who have similar experiences and challenges. Peer mentors provide emotional support, guidance, and practical advice to help individuals with disabilities navigate the challenges of daily life.

Eligibility Criteria For AIM Center for Independent Living Inc.

The AIM Center for Independent Living Inc. offers scholarships to students with disabilities who are pursuing higher education. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship include:

  • Disability: Applicants must have a disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Educational status: Applicants must be high school seniors or college students who are enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited college or university in the United States.
  • Academic achievement: Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Activities and leadership: Applicants must demonstrate leadership skills and a commitment to community service through extracurricular activities, volunteer work, or employment.
  • Financial need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • Residency: Applicants must reside in one of the following counties in Tennessee: Hamilton, Bradley, Polk, McMinn, or Meigs.
