Here are some common factors that may be considered:

  • Academic Merit: Many scholarships for studying in the US are awarded based on academic achievements. This can include a high grade point average (GPA), standardized test scores (such as the SAT or ACT), class rank, or other academic honors and achievements.
  • Extracurricular Activities and Leadership: Scholarships often consider an applicant’s involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, leadership roles, and achievements outside of academics. These can include participation in clubs, organizations, sports, volunteer work, or leadership positions in school or community settings.
  • Personal Statement or Essay: Many scholarships require applicants to submit a personal statement or essay. This allows applicants to demonstrate their motivation, goals, and how the scholarship will help them achieve their educational and career objectives.
  • Recommendations: Letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, or other individuals who can speak to an applicant’s abilities, character, and potential may be required. These recommendations provide additional insights into an applicant’s qualifications and potential.
  • English Language Proficiency: For international students, demonstrating proficiency in the English language through standardized tests like the TOEFL or IELTS may be required.
