About This Scholarship

The Amanda Reed Memorial Scholarship was created to give graduating seniors in Boone, Stephenson, and Winnebago County who are dedicated to ending teen dating violence and/or domestic abuse access to educational opportunities. Essay questions such as “How have you addressed the problem of domestic violence, and what impact has your work had in your community?” must be answered by applicants.

Candidates who supply a recommendation from a person familiar with their work in domestic violence prevention, such as a volunteer site supervisor, will receive strong preference.

Eligibility Criteria For Amanda Reed Memorial Scholarship

Here are some common eligibility requirements that are often considered for domestic violence-related scholarships:

  • Personal Experience: Some domestic violence scholarships may prioritize applicants who have personally experienced domestic violence or have a close connection to someone who has. They may require applicants to share their story or demonstrate their commitment to raising awareness and advocating for survivors.
  • Academic Achievement: Many scholarships consider academic performance as a factor in the selection process. Applicants may need to meet certain GPA (Grade Point Average) requirements or academic standards to be eligible for the scholarship.
  • Field of Study: Scholarships may be specific to certain fields of study related to domestic violence, such as social work, psychology, counseling, law, or gender studies. Applicants pursuing degrees or careers in these fields may have a higher chance of eligibility.

  • Essays or Personal Statements: Applicants may be required to submit essays or personal statements that outline their experiences, motivations, and goals related to addressing domestic violence. These essays provide an opportunity for applicants to demonstrate their commitment and passion for the cause.
