About This Scholarship

The Center for Arab American Philanthropy’s mission is to “create dynamic communities by uniting and enhancing the collective power of Arab American philanthropy.” This mission is supported by the Arab American Leadership Program (AALP), which receives funding from the Center. Arab American youth who are interested in working in national or other key public service institutions in Washington, District of Columbia, may apply for a paid internship and up to $5,000 (to cover the costs of the internship) through the Arab American Leadership Program (AALP), which this organization runs.

Eligibility Criteria For Arab American Leadership Program (AALP)

  • Arab American heritage: To be considered for the AALP, applicants must be of Arab American heritage. This means they must have at least one parent or grandparent of Arab descent.
  • Undergraduate or graduate student status: Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduate or graduate students in a college or university. They must have completed at least one year of coursework by the time of their internship.
  • Minimum GPA requirement: Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Interest in public service: Applicants must have a strong interest in public service and be committed to positively impacting their communities.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency: Applicants must be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Availability to work full-time in Washington, D.C.: Applicants must be available to work full-time in Washington, D.C., for the duration of the internship.
  • Willingness to participate in AALP activities: Applicants must participate in AALP activities, such as networking events and leadership development workshops.
