About This Scholarship

The Architects Foundation / McAslan Fellowship is a fellowship program that provides funding and support to architecture students and recent graduates who are interested in pursuing a research project related to sustainable design and urbanism. The fellowship is named in honor of John McAslan, a renowned architect and designer who has been a leader in the field of sustainable architecture and urban design.

The fellowship is administered by the Architects Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The program is open to architecture students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program or who have graduated from a graduate program within the past five years. 

The Architects Foundation / McAslan Fellowship provides funding and support to help recipients pursue a research project related to sustainable design and urbanism. The fellowship includes a $20,000 stipend, as well as access to mentorship and resources from the Architects Foundation and the AIA. The goal of the fellowship is to support the next generation of architects and designers who are committed to advancing sustainable design and urbanism practices.

Eligibility Criteria For Architects Foundation / McAslan Fellowship

The Architects Foundation / McAslan Fellowship is a fellowship program that provides financial support to emerging architects who are pursuing research projects related to the design of sustainable and equitable communities. To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a licensed architect or a recent graduate of an architecture program (within the last 10 years).
  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and must have a proposed research project that aligns with the fellowship’s focus on sustainable and equitable community design.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to advancing the architecture profession and improving the built environment.
  • Have not previously received the Architects Foundation / McAslan Fellowship.

Fellowship recipients are expected to present their research findings at a professional conference or other public forum.
