About This Scholarship

Students who are enrolled full-time in the Iowa State University’s College of Business as freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors are eligible for the Benjamin and Patricia Allen Scholarship. Priority is given to first-generation students, who are the first members of their family to complete their higher education.

The Benjamin and Patricia Allen Scholarship requires full-time enrollment in the Ivy College of Business from applicants. First-generation students—defined as those whose parents did not earn a four-year degree from an institution of higher education—shall be given preference. The recipients of this prize must be undergraduate students. If beneficiaries continue to receive it, this scholarship may be extended for an additional three (3) years.

Eligibility Criteria For Benjamin and Patricia Allen Scholarship

here are some common factors that are often considered:

  • Educational Background: Typically, applicants should have completed their secondary education or equivalent (e.g., high school diploma or GED) to be eligible for higher education in the US.
  • Academic Performance: Institutions generally consider applicants’ academic performance in their previous studies. This can include factors such as high school GPA, class rank, and transcripts.
  • Standardized Tests: Many universities in the US require applicants to submit scores from standardized tests such as the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) or ACT (American College Testing). These tests assess a student’s readiness for college-level education.
  • Application Materials: Institutions typically require applicants to submit application materials, which can include essays, personal statements, recommendation letters, and a completed application form.
  • Financial Resources: International students, in particular, may need to provide proof of financial resources to cover the cost of tuition, living expenses, and other related expenses. This is often necessary to obtain a student visa.
  • Visa Requirements: International students need to meet the visa requirements set by the US government. This includes obtaining an appropriate student visa, such as an F-1 visa, to study in the United States.
