Cancer for College is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to cancer survivors and amputees. The organization was founded in 1993 by Craig Pollard, a two-time cancer survivor, who realized that many cancer survivors and amputees faced financial barriers to pursuing higher education. Cancer for College aims to help these individuals achieve their academic goals and improve their quality of life.
The scholarships provided by Cancer for College are open to cancer survivors and amputees who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and are currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college or university. The organization provides both one-time and renewable scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the level of financial need and academic merit of the applicant.
In addition to scholarships, Cancer for College also hosts an annual golf tournament and other fundraising events to support its mission. The organization has awarded over $5 million in scholarships to more than 1,500 cancer survivors and amputees since its founding.
