About This Scholarship

The Certified Angus Beef Colvin Scholarship Fund is a program established by the Certified Angus Beef brand in honor of the late Louis M. “Mick” Colvin, a longtime employee and advocate for the brand. The program provides financial assistance to students pursuing careers in the beef industry.

The Colvin Scholarship is awarded annually to up to six undergraduate or graduate students studying animal science, meat science, food science, agricultural economics or a related field. Recipients receive a $7,500 scholarship to help with tuition, fees, books and room and board.

Eligibility Criteria For Certified Angus Beef Colvin Scholarship Fund

To be eligible for the Colvin Scholarship, applicants must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as full-time students in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in the United States or Canada.  The eligibility criteria for the Certified Angus Beef Colvin Scholarship Fund are as follows:

  • The applicant must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in the United States or Canada.
  • The applicant must be pursuing a degree in animal science, meat science, food science, agricultural economics, or a related field.
  • The applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and that applicant must demonstrate a strong commitment to the beef industry through coursework, internships, research, or other related activities.

Note that the scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. The number of scholarships awarded each year varies, but up to six scholarships are typically awarded annually.
