About This Scholarship

If you’re a high school student identifying as Native American, Native Hawaiian, or Alaska Native, you might be eligible to participate in the College Horizons Summer Workshop. The workshop is designed for Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian sophomores and juniors who plan to pursue higher education. The College Horizons organization has supported Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian students in achieving their higher education goals since 1998, and their Summer Workshop is part of their effort. The program provides a crash course to help students with college applications, including personalized guidance in selecting suitable colleges, gaining admission, and receiving adequate financial aid. Participants can also explore colleges and build personal connections with admissions representatives from College Horizon’s partner institutions. The workshop has been held each summer since 1998, and former participants have gone on to attend more than 400 different institutions, including Ivy League schools. The Summer Workshop is made possible by the support of the United States Department of Education’s Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE). FIPSE offers grants to nonprofit organizations committed to increasing minority student populations in higher education.
