About This Scholarship

The College of Wooster offers Scottish Arts Scholarships to incoming students who have demonstrated exceptional ability and promise in traditional Scottish arts, including music, dance, and storytelling. These scholarships are designed to support students who are passionate about Scottish culture and wish to continue their artistic pursuits while pursuing a college degree.

The College of Wooster offers several Scottish Arts Scholarships, including the following:

The Scottish Arts Scholarship – This scholarship is awarded to exceptional incoming students who have demonstrated outstanding ability and promise in traditional Scottish arts, including music, dance, and storytelling. 

The Archie MacLean Scholarship – This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional ability and promise in Scottish fiddle performance. 

The Clan Currie Scholarship – This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional ability and promise in Scottish piping or drumming. 

In addition to these scholarships, the College of Wooster also offers a variety of other opportunities for students who are interested in Scottish arts and culture. These include ensemble scholarships, travel grants for study and performance in Scotland, and opportunities to participate in Scottish arts festivals and competitions.

Eligibility Criteria For College of Wooster Scottish Arts Scholarships

The College of Wooster Scottish Arts Scholarships are awarded to incoming first-year students who have demonstrated exceptional talent and achievement in Scottish arts, such as bagpiping, drumming, or Highland dance.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a high school senior who has applied for admission to The College of Wooster as a first-year student.
  • Demonstrate exceptional talent and achievement in Scottish arts, as demonstrated through audition or portfolio submission. The specific requirements and guidelines for auditions and portfolio submissions may vary depending on the area of Scottish arts.
  • Maintain active participation in Scottish arts at The College of Wooster, including participation in ensembles, lessons, and other Scottish arts-related activities.
  • Show evidence of intellectual curiosity and a desire to engage in rigorous academic study.
