About This Scholarship

The Delaware Diabetes Coalition (DDC) is offering a college scholarship for students living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The DDC Scholarship Program recognizes the challenges faced by individuals living with diabetes and aims to provide financial support for post-secondary education. Applicants must be residents of Delaware and will be evaluated based on academic performance, extra-curricular achievements, character traits, leadership potential and involvement in activities related to managing their illness. Award recipients will receive up to $2,500 towards tuition costs at any accredited college or university. With this generous funding opportunity, the DDC College Scholarship provides an invaluable resource for students looking to pursue higher education while managing their diabetes diagnosis.The scholarship awards are worth $1,000 each and can be used to help cover educational costs such as tuition, books, room and board, lab fees or other related expenses. Qualified applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need; have been diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes; be currently attending an accredited college in Delaware; and demonstrate involvement in DDC programs or activities.

Eligibility Criteria For DDC College Scholarship

 Students that fit the eligibility requirements can apply for this scholarship:

  • Open to high school seniors in Delaware who have been diagnosed with diabetes.
  • Applicant  must be admitted into an accredited college or university in the United States.
  • Demonstrate financial need and academic merit as indicated by a completed FAFSA form, transcript of grades, and two letters of recommendation from teachers/counselors/mentors.
  • Have a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale for all course work completed during senior year of high school. 
  • Must document activities related to self-management, advocacy, leadership potential and community involvement within areas that benefit the Delaware Diabetes Coalition’s mission statement.
