Eligibility Criteria For Dr. Abdulmunim A. Shakir Scholarship

  • The Dr. Abdulmunim A. Shakir Scholarship is a scholarship program that is available to graduating high school seniors or college students who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at accredited institutions in the United States. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Academic Achievement: Applicants for this scholarship must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and  must demonstrate financial need.
  • Major: Applicants for this scholarship must be pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: engineering, computer science, information technology, pre-med, chemistry, physics, mathematics, business, finance, accounting, or economics.
  • Essay: Applicants for this scholarship must submit an essay of no more than 500 words on one of the following topics: “What influenced you to pursue a career in your major?”, or “What are your career goals and how will this scholarship help you achieve them?”
  • Recommendation Letters: Applicants for this scholarship must submit two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to the applicant’s character, academic performance, and potential for success.
