About This Scholarship

For current high school seniors or graduates who have deferred higher education for up to two years and are enrolled to attend a college during the upcoming academic year, The Dubin Centre is pleased to offer a scholarship opportunity. Candidates will be questioned about their background in either providing care or volunteering with dementia patients. If you’re interested in applying, get in touch with the Dubin Centre. The student must be enrolled in or about to graduate from a high school in southwest Florida (Lee, Collier, Hendry, Glades or Charlotte counties).

Eligibility Criteria For Dubin Center Scholarship Program

The eligibility criteria for such scholarships can vary, but here are some factors that may be considered:

  • Relationship to dementia: Scholarships may require applicants to have a close relationship with someone who has been diagnosed with dementia, such as a parent, grandparent, or other family member. Some scholarships may extend eligibility to individuals who have provided care or support to someone with dementia.
  • Academic status: Scholarships may be available to high school seniors or current college students who plan to pursue higher education. The specific academic requirements, such as GPA or enrollment in a particular institution, will depend on the scholarship program.
  • Personal statement or essay: Applicants may be asked to submit a personal statement or essay describing their experience with dementia, the impact it has had on their lives, and their aspirations for their future studies or career. This provides an opportunity to share their story and connection to dementia.
  • Financial need: Some scholarships may consider financial need as a criterion for eligibility. Applicants may be required to demonstrate their financial circumstances through documentation such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or other financial aid forms.
  • Recommendations: Scholarships may require letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, or other individuals who can attest to the applicant’s character, personal experience with dementia, and potential for success in their academic pursuits.
