About This Scholarship

Margaret Fisher, a former member of the Saginaw Board of Education, created a scholarship in 1926 with the United Advisory Scholarship Commission in honour of her deceased husband, E.C. Fisher. The E.C. Fisher Scholarship is offered by the United Advisory Scholarship Commission to graduating seniors of Saginaw Public Schools who are pursuing engineering degrees and who live in the Saginaw Public School District.

Eligibility Criteria For E.C. Fisher Scholarship

Here are some common factors that may be considered:

  • Field of Engineering: Scholarships may be specific to certain fields of engineering, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, aerospace engineering, or chemical engineering. Some scholarships may prioritize certain engineering disciplines based on demand or industry needs.
  • Academic Performance: Most engineering scholarships require applicants to have a strong academic record. Scholarships may have different GPA requirements based on the program, level of study (undergraduate or graduate), and the institution offering the scholarship.
  • Enrollment Status: Scholarships may be available to students at different stages of their engineering education, including incoming freshmen, undergraduate students, or graduate students. Some scholarships may have specific requirements based on the applicant’s current enrollment status.
  • Citizenship or Residency: Scholarships may have specific citizenship or residency requirements. Some scholarships are open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents, while others may also consider international students or non-citizens. The eligibility criteria for citizenship or residency can vary depending on the scholarship program and the organization offering it.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Strong letters of recommendation from professors, advisors, or professionals who can attest to the applicant’s academic abilities, engineering skills, and potential for success may be required.
  • Personal Statement or Essay: Many engineering scholarships require applicants to submit a personal statement or essay. This allows applicants to discuss their passion for engineering, career goals, accomplishments, and how the scholarship would help them achieve their objectives. It is an opportunity to showcase their motivation, dedication, and potential contribution to the field of engineering.
