About This Scholarship

The Gene Carte Student Paper Competition is a program sponsored by the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) to recognize outstanding student research in the field of food safety. The competition is named after Dr. Gene Carte, who was a distinguished food microbiologist and long-time member of the IAFP. The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are currently enrolled in an accredited institution and conducting research in food safety-related fields.

To participate in the competition, students must submit a paper that describes their research findings, methodologies, and conclusions. The papers are evaluated by a panel of judges based on criteria such as scientific merit, originality, and relevance to food safety.

The winners of the competition receive a cash award, an IAFP membership, and the opportunity to present their research at the association’s annual meeting. The competition is a great opportunity for students to gain recognition for their research and to network with professionals in the food safety industry.

The deadline and other details of the competition can be found on the IAFP website.
