About This Scholarship

The Gerber Foundation’s goal of improving the nutrition, care, and development of babies and young children has remained the organization’s compass throughout its history. Therefore, programs whose principal beneficiaries are young children between the ages of birth and three are given precedence. The Foundation offers a variety of funding options, including scholarships for students graduating from particular high schools in the Michigan counties of Newaygo, Muskegon, and Oceana.

Students graduating from particular high schools in Newaygo, Muskegon, or Oceana Counties are eligible for the Gerber Foundation Merit Scholarship. The majority of applicants must be seniors in high school, or in one instance, homeschooled pupils.

Eligibility Criteria For Gerber Foundation Merit Scholarship

Here are some common factors considered for young children scholarships:

  • Age Range: Scholarships may have a specific age range for eligible children, such as preschool-aged children (3-5 years old) or early elementary school children (6-8 years old).
  • Financial Need: Some scholarships for young children may consider the family’s financial circumstances as part of the eligibility criteria. This can involve demonstrating financial need through income verification or other relevant documentation.
  • Educational Institution: Scholarships may be specific to a particular educational institution, such as a preschool, daycare center, or early childhood education program. Children attending the designated institution would be eligible for consideration.
  • Academic or Developmental Criteria: Depending on the scholarship’s purpose, academic or developmental criteria may be assessed. This can include evaluating the child’s cognitive abilities, language skills, social-emotional development, or other educational benchmarks.
  • Specific Demographic or Geographic Criteria: Some scholarships may target specific demographic groups, such as children from low-income families, minority communities, or certain geographical regions.
  • Parental Involvement: Scholarships may consider parental involvement or engagement in their child’s education or willingness to participate in related activities, workshops, or events.
  • Essay or Interview: Scholarships for young children may involve a component where parents or guardians need to write an essay or participate in an interview to demonstrate their child’s eligibility or the need for financial assistance.
