About This Scholarship

The Glenn Mayer Memorial Fund was founded to recognise Carrollton High School students who demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and honesty. Candidates must be high school seniors about to graduate and enrolled in an undergraduate programme or Career and Technical Education (CTE) training (skilled trade/vocation). Sportsmanship, integrity, participation in extracurricular activities, and community service will all be included as evaluation criteria. A recommendation letter must be sent with the application.

Eligibility Criteria For Glenn Mayer Memorial Scholarship

Here are some general eligibility criteria that may be considered for sportsmanship and honesty-related scholarships:

  • Demonstrated Sportsmanship: Applicants may be required to demonstrate a history of displaying good sportsmanship in their chosen sport or athletic activities. This can include examples of fair play, respect for opponents, adherence to rules, and positive behavior on and off the field.
  • Academic Achievement: While the primary focus of these scholarships may be sportsmanship and honesty, academic achievement may still be a consideration. Applicants may need to meet a certain academic standard, such as maintaining a minimum GPA.
  • Leadership and Character: Scholarships that emphasize sportsmanship and honesty may value applicants who exhibit strong leadership skills and demonstrate positive character traits, such as integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct.
  • Recommendations: Letters of recommendation from coaches, teachers, or mentors who can attest to the applicant’s sportsmanship and honesty may be required. These recommendations should highlight the individual’s character and behavior in the sports environment.
  • Essay or Personal Statement: Applicants may be asked to write an essay or personal statement explaining their understanding and commitment to sportsmanship and honesty. They may be required to provide examples of how they have demonstrated these qualities and their impact on their sports community.
  • Community Involvement: Involvement in community service or initiatives related to promoting sportsmanship and honesty may be considered as an eligibility factor. This can include volunteering with youth sports programs, mentoring younger athletes, or participating in initiatives that promote fair play.
