About This Scholarship

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) is a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs that provides undergraduate students from around the world with the opportunity to study for a semester or academic year at a U.S. college or university. The program is designed to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries, as well as to provide participants with a unique educational and cultural experience.

Selected participants are placed at host institutions throughout the United States, where they enroll in a full course load of undergraduate courses and participate in cultural and community service activities. Participants receive full scholarships that cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip airfare, and a small monthly stipend for personal expenses.

Eligibility Criteria For Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) is a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State that provides undergraduate students from around the world with the opportunity to study at a U.S. college or university for one semester. The eligibility criteria for the Global UGRAD program include:

  • Citizenship: Applicants must be a citizen of a participating country, which may vary from year to year.
  • Age: All the applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
  • Enrollment: Applicants must be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at a university or college in their home country.
  • English Language Proficiency: Applicants must have a strong command of the English language, as demonstrated by a TOEFL or IELTS score.
  • Academic Excellence: Applicants must have a strong academic record and demonstrate a commitment to their academic studies.
  • Leadership Potential: Applicants must demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to their community through extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and/or internships.
  • Adaptability: Applicants must demonstrate the ability to adapt to a new culture and environment and show a willingness to engage with their host community.
