About This Scholarship

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes is an annual award program that recognizes and celebrates inspiring young people aged 8 to 18 who have made a positive impact on their communities and the environment. The award was established by author T.A. Barron in honor of his mother, Gloria Barron, who devoted her life to helping others.

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes awards up to 25 prizes of $10,000 each to eligible young people who have demonstrated leadership and initiative in their community through a specific project or service. Applicants must be nominated by an adult who is not a family member, and must submit a detailed application that includes information about their project and its impact.

Eligibility Criteria For Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes

The eligibility criteria for the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes are as follows:

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 8 and 18 years old at the time of nomination.
  • Applicants must be a permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
  • Applicants must have initiated and led a service project that has made a significant positive impact on people, animals, or the environment.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated courage, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference through their service project.
  • Applicants must be nominated by an adult who is not a family member, such as a teacher, counselor, or community leader.
