For high school and college students majoring in health care, academic scholarships are available. There are $500 to $2,000 in prizes. The qualifications for each scholarship are different. Candidates must be residents of Latah County, Nez Perce County, Asotin County, or Whitman County in Idaho, Washington, or Oregon.

Eligibility Criteria For Gritman Scholarships

Here are some common criteria that are often considered:

  • Academic Performance: Most healthcare scholarships require applicants to have a strong academic record. This typically includes maintaining a minimum grade point average (GPA) or achieving a certain standardized test score.
  • Field of Study: Healthcare scholarships are usually awarded to students pursuing degrees or careers in healthcare-related fields such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, public health, or medical research.
  • Enrollment Status: Scholarships may be available for undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree programs. Some scholarships may also be open to high school seniors who plan to pursue healthcare degrees.
  • Financial Need: Some scholarships prioritize students with demonstrated financial need. This requirement may be assessed through the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or other financial aid forms.
  • Community Involvement: Many scholarship programs value applicants who have actively participated in healthcare-related community service or volunteer work. This could include activities like working at a hospital, volunteering at a clinic, or participating in medical mission trips.
  • Essays or Personal Statements: Scholarships often require applicants to write essays or personal statements explaining their career goals, motivations, and how they plan to contribute to the healthcare field. These essays help scholarship committees evaluate applicants’ passion, dedication, and communication skills.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Applicants may need to submit letters of recommendation from teachers, professors, or healthcare professionals who can attest to their abilities, character, and potential for success in the healthcare field.
