About This Scholarship

Through the programmes we offer, the American Legion, Department of Michigan gives high school students the chance to apply for scholarships or prizes that will pay for their college education. Awards differ based on the programme and requirements. Scholarships from the American Legion are available for the next spring semester. Academic achievement, leadership ability, and the premise of need are taken into consideration while making decisions.

The Guy M. Wilson Scholarship is only available to Michigan high school graduates who are the sons, daughters, grandchildren or great-grandchildren of a deserving war veteran, who are currently enrolled in high school, and who intend to enrol in an authorised Michigan college or university. A student’s GPA of 2.5 or better, financial need, and the applicant’s objectives and ambitions all play a role in selection.

Eligibility Criteria For Guy M. Wilson Scholarship

The eligibility criteria for a family of war veteran scholarship may vary depending on the specific scholarship program or organization offering it. However, here are some common eligibility criteria that are often considered:

  • War veteran status: The scholarship may require the war veteran to have served in a specific conflict or war, such as World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, or other military engagements. The veteran may need to have received an honorable discharge from the military.
  • Service-related criteria: Some scholarships may require the war veteran to have been injured, disabled, missing in action, or killed in action as a result of their military service. Others may not have specific service-related requirements.
