About This Scholarship

Hannah Ostrea Memorial Scholarship for College For those whose children have a rare ailment, The Hannah Ostrea Memorial College Scholarship was established to pay tribute to Little Miss Hannah Ostrea, who passed away at the age of 3 after a long battle with the extremely uncommon genetic condition Gaucher Disease type 2/3.

Even though she was only alive for three short years, everyone who had the chance to come to know her was permanently changed by her stunning smile, seductive charm, and daring spirit. She was never able to speak, but her facial expressions, laughter, and eyes spoke volumes.

Ethan and Abigail, Hannah’s brother and sister, were her closest friends. They helped take care of her needs even though they were only a few years older than her and offered her so much joy.  Despite the difficulties of growing up with a sibling who had severe medical needs, their devotion for their little sister remained unmatched.

The Little Miss Hannah Foundation is providing this scholarship opportunity to families of children with rare illnesses as a result of the love of Hannah’s siblings. A minimum of two students will each earn a $1000 award based on their essay submission, academic success, and volunteer work.
