About This Scholarship

The Herb Kohl Student Excellence Scholarship is a program established by former U.S. Senator Herb Kohl to recognize and support outstanding Wisconsin high school graduates who have demonstrated excellence in academic achievement, leadership, and community service. The scholarship is awarded annually to 200 graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a post-secondary institution in Wisconsin.

The scholarship provides a $10,000 award to each recipient, which can be used to pay for tuition, fees, books, or other educational expenses at a Wisconsin-based college or university. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, provided the recipient continues to meet certain eligibility criteria, such as maintaining a minimum GPA and full-time enrollment at an eligible institution.

The Herb Kohl Student Excellence Scholarship is a highly competitive program, and applicants are evaluated based on their academic record, leadership, community involvement, and other factors that demonstrate their potential to succeed in college and beyond. The application process typically opens in the fall of each year, and recipients are announced in the spring.
