About This Scholarship

If you’re a post-secondary student passionate about photojournalism, you might be interested in applying for the International Documentary Photography Scholarship. The scholarship is sponsored by Anchell Photography, Inc., founded by Steve Anchell, an acclaimed photographer strongly committed to photojournalism. Steve’s work has been exhibited in galleries and private collections across the globe. Through his “International Documentary Photography Scholarship,” Steve aims to support young photographers dedicated to socially conscious photography. The scholarship provides $1,000 to one outstanding applicant each year. Applicants are evaluated based on their submissions and demonstrated interest in using photography to document socially or personally significant people, groups, places, events, or happenings.

Eligibility Criteria For International Documentary Photography Scholarship

Student Status: The scholarship is open to post-secondary students, including both undergraduate and graduate students.

Field of Study: Applicants must be studying photography or a related field.

Passion for Photojournalism: Applicants should have a strong passion for photojournalism and a desire to use photography to bring attention to social issues.

Socially Conscious Photography: Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to socially conscious photography and a desire to use their work to document people, groups, places, events, or happenings of social or personal importance.

Submissions: Applicants will be evaluated based on their submissions, which should showcase their photography skills and their ability to use photography to document socially conscious issues.

Selection: The scholarship is awarded to one outstanding applicant each year, based on their submissions and their demonstrated interest and involvement in socially conscious photography.
