About This Scholarship

If you are a minority high school senior who excels academically and has financial needs, you may want to apply for the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship. This scholarship awards up to $35,000 over four years to successful applicants. Additionally, recipients will be invited to attend the JRF’s annual four-day “Mentoring and Leadership Conference” in New York City. They will receive a comprehensive four-year program that includes career guidance, internships, job placement, and more. The scholarship is offered by the Jackie Robinson Foundation, an organization established by Rachel Robinson to support the education of talented young minority students in memory of her late husband.

Eligibility Criteria For Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

  • Graduating, Minority High School Senior: To be eligible for the JRF Scholarship, applicants must be graduating high school senior who identifies as a minority. This includes African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American, and Native American students.
  • Academic Excellence: Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. They should have completed a rigorous academic curriculum and achieved competitive standardized test scores for admission to an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Financial Need: Applicants must have a household income below certain levels to be considered for the scholarship. These levels vary depending on family size and the cost of living in the applicant’s area. JRF Scholarship applications will require applicants to provide financial information.
  • US Citizen: Applicants must be US citizens or have legal permanent residency.
  • Leadership Qualities and Community Service: The scholarship committee will also consider the applicant’s leadership qualities, commitment to community service, and potential to impact society positively. Applicants should have a record of involvement in extracurricular activities, volunteer work, or employment.
  • Plan to Attend a 4-Year Accredited College or University: The scholarship recipients must plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university as a full-time student.
  • Commitment to Participate in the JRF Program: Finally, scholarship recipients must commit to participating in the JRF’s comprehensive program for their four-year college education. This includes attending JRF events, engaging in mentoring and leadership activities, and participating in career guidance, internships, and job placement opportunities provided by the foundation.
