About This Scholarship

Seniors from the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle who are graduating from high school are eligible for the Jake Jones Memorial Scholarship. They must demonstrate honesty, drive, moral rectitude, and a genuine desire to advance their studies. Students must exhibit the ability to overcome challenges brought on by their learning handicap as well as a high standard of morals, including fidelity to friends, family, and religion.

Serving the more than 400,000 residents of the Texas Panhandle, the Amarillo Area Foundation is the sole nonprofit community foundation in the region. The Foundation, a pioneer in charitable, nonprofit, and community concerns, acts as a catalyst to address the most pressing issues facing the neighbourhood.
