About This Scholarship

The Newbern Bush Memorial Scholarship is given out each year by the Jacksonville State University Foundation. Founded in honour of former math teacher and faculty member Newbern Bush. A full-time undergraduate student from Alabama who is majoring in mathematics and has reached junior standing will be given the scholarship. The JSU Foundation develops opportunities that will provide additional assistance to the students, programmes, services, and academic community of Jacksonville State University through collaborative relationships with people, businesses, foundations, and other organisations.

The Foundation will use image improvement, efficient asset management, business ventures, and development initiatives to fulfil its objective. The JSU Foundation’s main goal is to increase private gift support for Jacksonville State University while establishing a solid foundation for future fundraising success.

Eligibility Criteria For JSU Alabama Bush Memorial Scholarship

Here are some common factors considered for such scholarships:

  • Enrollment Status: Full-time undergraduate student scholarships typically require applicants to be enrolled as full-time students at an accredited college or university. This means taking a minimum course load as defined by the institution (usually around 12 credits per semester).
  • Academic Standing: Scholarships for full-time undergraduate students often consider academic performance. Applicants may need to maintain a certain GPA or meet specific academic requirements as outlined by the scholarship program. Transcripts or academic records may be required to demonstrate current academic standing.
  • Field of Study: Some scholarships may be open to students in any field of study, while others may be limited to specific majors, disciplines, or areas of study. The eligibility criteria may specify the preferred fields of study or have restrictions based on the scholarship provider’s priorities.
  • Personal Statement or Essay: Scholarships often require applicants to submit a personal statement or essay that highlights their educational and career goals, explains why they deserve the scholarship, and discusses how the scholarship will help them achieve their aspirations.
  • Recommendations: Letters of recommendation from teachers, professors, counselors, or other individuals who can speak to the applicant’s academic achievements, character, and potential may be required. These recommendations should support the applicant’s suitability for the scholarship.
