About This Scholarship

The Cole (Leone) Memorial Scholarship is given out each year by the Jacksonville State University Foundation. In honour of Mrs. Leone Pruett Cole, the Jacksonville Book Club established this scholarship. Former JSU president Dr. Houston Cole’s wife, Mrs. Cole, passed away in 1949. Those deserving full-time incoming freshmen will receive the award. The JSU Foundation develops opportunities that will provide additional assistance to the students, programmes, services, and academic community of Jacksonville State University through collaborative relationships with people, businesses, foundations, and other organisations.

The Foundation will use image improvement, efficient asset management, business ventures, and development initiatives to fulfil its objective. The JSU Foundation’s ultimate goal is to increase private gift support for Jacksonville State University while establishing the foundation for future fundraising success.

Here are some common factors that may be considered for these types of scholarships:

  • Academic Achievement: Scholarships for higher studies often consider academic performance as a key criterion. Applicants may need to demonstrate high grades, a strong GPA, or exceptional standardized test scores. Transcripts, academic records, or proof of academic achievements may be required.
  • Field of Study: Some scholarships may be open to students in any field of study, while others may be limited to specific majors, disciplines, or areas of study. The eligibility criteria may specify preferred fields of study or have restrictions based on the scholarship provider’s priorities.
