About This Scholarship

Since 1950, the Korean University Club of Hawaii, which was founded in 1936, has given academic scholarships to students with Korean heritage. The Korean University Club of Hawaii is a multigenerational organisation of people with Korean ancestry in America that carries on the goals of its founders by fostering an appreciation of cultural history, being involved in local issues, and offering educational opportunities. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2.7, be Hawai’i residents, be of partial Korean origin, and demonstrate financial need in order to be considered.

Eligibility Criteria For Korean University Club Scholarship

Here are some common eligibility considerations:

  • Residency: Some scholarships in Hawaii may require applicants to be residents of the state. This could involve providing proof of residency, such as a Hawaii driver’s license or state identification card, or documentation showing continuous residency in Hawaii.
  • Academic qualifications: Scholarships often have academic requirements, such as a minimum high school GPA or standardized test scores (such as SAT or ACT). The specific GPA or test score requirements can vary between scholarship programs.
  • Enrollment status: Scholarships may be available to students who are enrolling or planning to enroll as full-time students in an accredited college or university. Some scholarships may also consider part-time enrollment.
  • Extracurricular activities and leadership: Scholarship programs often value students who have demonstrated involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership roles, community service, or other notable achievements during their high school years. Highlighting your involvement and accomplishments in these areas can strengthen your scholarship application.
  • Essays or personal statements: Many scholarships require applicants to submit essays or personal statements that showcase their goals, aspirations, and reasons for pursuing higher education. These essays provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your passion, motivation, and unique qualities.
  • Letters of recommendation: Some scholarships may require one or more letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or individuals who can speak to your qualifications and potential as a college student.
