About This Scholarship

The Fund was created to offer educational possibilities to women who are currently employed or who need to enhance their education or skill sets in order to increase their professional opportunities. Depending on the funding available each year, scholarships might range from $500 to $2000.

The applicant should be looking for: specialised training in a vocational or technical school; a degree of certification below the master’s level at a college or university; or continuing education programmes for improving job skills in either a learning facility or specialised training organisation. Non-Episcopalians may apply as long as they are sponsored by a member of an Episcopal church, though preference is given to Episcopalians.

Eligibility Criteria For Lex Mathews Scholarship

Here are some common eligibility factors that may apply to scholarships for vocational education:

  • Program or Field of Study: Scholarships may be specific to certain vocational or technical programs, such as automotive technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, construction trades, healthcare, welding, or other skilled trades.
  • Educational Level: Scholarships may be available to high school seniors planning to enroll in a vocational program, current vocational students, or individuals seeking additional training or certification in a specific trade.
  • Career Goals: Scholarships may prioritize applicants who demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in a vocational field and have clear career goals or plans.
  • Financial Need: Some scholarships are based on financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or other financial aid forms.
  • Academic Achievement: While academic performance may not be the primary consideration for vocational scholarships, some programs may have minimum GPA requirements or academic criteria for eligibility.
  • Essays or Personal Statements: Applicants may be required to submit essays or personal statements discussing their interest in vocational education, career aspirations, or relevant experiences.
  • Recommendations: Letters of recommendation from teachers, employers, or professionals in the field may be requested to support the application.
