About This Scholarship

The Lyceum Scholars Program is an undergraduate program in philosophy and free-market principles offered by Clemson University’s College of Business. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of free markets, individual liberty, and limited government. Lyceum Scholars take a series of interdisciplinary courses that cover philosophy, economics, politics, and history. They also participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including seminars, guest lectures, and research projects, designed to enhance their understanding of free-market principles and prepare them for leadership roles in business, government, and civil society.

The program is open to incoming freshman students who demonstrate a strong academic record and a commitment to the principles of free-market economics and political philosophy. Lyceum Scholars receive a scholarship that covers tuition and fees for all four years of their undergraduate studies at Clemson University, as well as a variety of other benefits and opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria For Lyceum Scholars Program

The Lyceum Scholars Program is a scholarship program offered by the Clemson Institute for the Study of Capitalism. The program is designed to support undergraduate students who are interested in exploring the moral and economic foundations of a free society. The eligibility criteria for the Lyceum Scholars Program are as follows:

  • Applicants must be high school seniors or current undergraduate students who plan to enroll full-time at Clemson University.
  • Applicants must have a strong academic record, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in exploring the moral and economic foundations of a free society.
  • Applicants must submit an application form, a personal statement, a letter of recommendation, and a transcript.
  • Applicants must be willing to complete a sequence of eight courses, including four core courses and four electives, in areas such as economics, political philosophy, and history.
  • Applicants must be willing to participate in extracurricular activities, such as student-led reading groups and discussions, and attend guest lectures and seminars.
