About This Scholarship

Four $5000 scholarships are being offered by Bravura Information Technology Systems and the Northeastern Maryland Technology Council (NMTC). Scholarships are available to women who will enter a four-year degree programme in the fall in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) after graduating this year from a high school or home school in Harford County or Cecil County. Students who meet the requirements should submit an essay stating how they plan to use their field of study to alter the world for the better.

Up to four $2,500 scholarships will be given out each semester, for a total of $5,000. Scholarship money can be used for living expenses, tuition, room & board, fees, books, and other educational costs.

Eligibility Criteria For NMTC/Bravura Scholarship for Women in STEM

Here are some general factors that are often considered:

  • Gender: Women in STEM scholarships are typically available to female students who identify as women. The goal is to support and encourage women’s participation and advancement in STEM fields, where they are traditionally underrepresented.
  • Field of Study: Scholarships may be specific to certain STEM disciplines or open to a broad range of STEM fields. These can include engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, and more. Ensure that your field of study aligns with the scholarship program you are applying to.
  • Career Aspirations: Scholarships may prioritize applicants who demonstrate a clear commitment to pursuing a career in STEM and have a genuine passion for their chosen field. This can be demonstrated through personal statements, essays, or letters of recommendation.
  • Leadership and Involvement: Scholarships often value applicants who have shown leadership potential or involvement in STEM-related activities. This can include participation in STEM clubs, research projects, internships, competitions, or community outreach programs.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Strong letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or professionals in STEM fields can support your application. These letters should highlight your academic abilities, passion for STEM, and potential for success in your chosen field.
