About This Scholarship

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is a merit-based graduate school fellowship for immigrants and children of immigrants in the United States. The fellowship provides up to $90,000 in funding over two years to cover tuition, living expenses, and other costs associated with graduate study. Fellows are selected based on their academic achievements, creativity, and potential to make significant contributions to their field of study and to society as a whole.

In addition to financial support, the fellowship offers networking and professional development opportunities, as well as access to a community of accomplished immigrants and supporters. Since its inception, the program has awarded over $100 million in funding to more than 650 fellows.

Eligibility Criteria For Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is a scholarship program designed to support immigrant and refugee students who are pursuing graduate studies in the United States. The program provides funding for up to two years of graduate study at any accredited institution in the United States.

To be eligible for the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • New American status: Applicants must be either a green card holder, naturalized citizen, or a child of two parents who are both naturalized citizens.
  • Graduate studies: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the United States or abroad, and be pursuing or planning to pursue a graduate degree in any field of study.
  • Academic excellence: Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Applicants should have also demonstrated creativity, originality, and initiative in their academic pursuits.
  • Leadership potential: Applicants should show potential to become leaders in their chosen field, and to make significant contributions to society.
  • Financial need: Applicants should demonstrate financial need for the scholarship, either through personal circumstances or through a commitment to serving underserved communities.
