Eligibility Criteria For Perceptions of the Saginaw Valley Scholarship

Here are some common eligibility factors considered for non-traditional student scholarships:

  • Age: Non-traditional student scholarships are typically targeted toward individuals who are older than the traditional college age range (18-22). The specific age range can vary, but it is generally intended for adult learners who are returning to education after a gap.
  • Educational Background: Non-traditional student scholarships may require applicants to have a high school diploma or equivalent qualification. Some scholarships may also consider the applicant’s previous educational experience, such as completion of a certain number of college credits or a specific GPA.
  • Enrollment Status: Scholarships may require applicants to be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited educational institution, such as a college, university, trade school, or vocational program. Some scholarships may also consider part-time enrollment or online education.
  • Financial Need: Many non-traditional student scholarships prioritize applicants who demonstrate financial need. This may involve submitting financial documentation, such as tax returns or FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) forms.
  • Career Goals or Field of Study: Some scholarships may have specific requirements based on the applicant’s career goals or field of study. They may be designed for students pursuing certain majors or targeting specific industries or professions.
  • Personal Circumstances: Non-traditional student scholarships may consider personal circumstances such as being a single parent, a military veteran, a person with a disability, or someone who has overcome significant challenges or obstacles.
  • Academic Performance: Some scholarships may require a minimum GPA or academic achievement level. This can vary depending on the scholarship program and the institution offering it.
