Eligibility Criteria For PINC (Poverty Is Not a Choice) Scholarship

Here are some common eligibility factors that may apply to arts scholarships:

  • Artistic Discipline: Scholarships in the arts typically target specific artistic disciplines such as visual arts, performing arts (including music, dance, theater), film, creative writing, or other artistic mediums. The scholarship may require applicants to be pursuing a degree or major in one of these fields.
  • Portfolio or Audition: Many arts scholarships require applicants to submit a portfolio or participate in an audition to showcase their artistic abilities. The portfolio or audition serves as a demonstration of the applicant’s skills, creativity, and potential in their chosen artistic discipline.
  • Academic Achievement: While the primary focus of arts scholarships is typically on artistic talent, some scholarships may also consider academic performance. This may include maintaining a minimum GPA or meeting specific academic standards set by the scholarship provider.
  • Enrolled Status: Scholarships may be available to high school seniors planning to pursue an arts-related degree or current undergraduate students. Some scholarships may have restrictions based on the applicant’s level of study, such as first-year students, second-year students, etc.
  • Essay or Personal Statement: Many scholarship applications require applicants to submit an essay or personal statement. This provides an opportunity for applicants to discuss their artistic journey, inspirations, goals, and how the scholarship would support their artistic aspirations.
